Celebrate Ground Hogs day at the Houston Zoo

The Houston Zoo will celebrate Ground Hogs Day by having their own Babirusa Day. Why a babirusa instead of a ground hog? The zoo doesn't have a ground hog since ground hogs do not do well in hot and humid tropical climates such as Houston.

Remley, the babirusa is an intelligent, hairless pig that is very adaptable making her a natural at predicting the weather. One "scene" represents 6 more weeks of winter (a 2-foot tall ‘snowman’ containing favorite Remley treats made from white paper on a field of shaved ice) and another representing the onset of spring (a picnic scene complete with a ‘picnic blanket’ and a basket of treats).

She will make her Houston weather prediction at 10am at the Houston Zoo's Wortham World of Primates. She will choose between two scenes designed by her keepers.
