What a wonderful day to celebrate a popular fruit!
February 27 is National Strawberry Day.
One of the most popular fruits in the world is the strawberry. The strawberry is the first fruit to ripen every year. That's why strawberries are often called the “taste of spring.”
The bright red juicy berries are good and good for you. Each bite is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber.
Strawberries have been enjoyed by people for centuries because of their taste, their health benefits and their availability. Unlike some fruits that are only in the grocery stores on a seasonal basis, strawberries are in the stores all year long.
Health benefits of strawberries
The Ancient Romans believed that strawberries could cure fevers, fainting, inflammation, and several other ailments. Strawberries are also used to whitening teeth.
Celebrate National Strawberry Day by eating some strawberries as they are or enjoying them in a fresh bowl of strawberries and cream, a strawberry smoothie, a piece of toast smothered in strawberry jam, or a scoop of strawberry ice cream.
Happy National Strawberry Day to all strawberry lovers!
