Well, his real birthday isn't until March 2nd, but on February 26th at Lexington Gymboree there will be a big birthday celebration for beloved children's author, Dr. Seuss! From 4:30 to 7:30 there will be stories, crafts and games, plus it's free to the public! Children ages 0-5 are welcome. See more information on the Gymboree Facebook page (you'll need to log on).
Encourage research on topics that your children like!
When it's the birthday of your son/daughter's favorite author, athlete, singer etc. use that as an opportunity to research the person and learn more about them; their work, their lives and their interests. For example, if you read his biography on the Seussville website, you'll find that Dr. Seuss was born Ted Seuss Geisel but began signing his work as "Seuss" after he lost his job as editor of his college newspaper, for throwing a party that was against the school rules! He went on to write and illustrate over 60 books, including six that were produced posthumously.
