Celebrate at Wine and Wishes food & wine extravaganza supporting Make-A- Wish (Photos)

Spend a glamorous evening eating and drinking for a good cause at the 12th Annual Wine and Wishes® event on Saturday February 2, 2013, held on Treasure Island. Enjoy spectacular city views and enjoy 50 restaurants and wineries serving sumptuous culinary bites prepared by award-winning chefs along with a selection of wine during the Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting or reserve your place the Winemaker Dinner.

The event will be held at the iconic art deco Administration Building, originally intended to serve as a terminal for Pan Am's famed Clipper Ships. The Winemaker Dinner will be held nearby at San Francisco’s only working winery, WinerySF. This year’s event will bring together renowned culinary stars like James Beard Award winner, Roland Passot of La Folie, Mark Dommen of One Market and Mark Liberman of AQ, among others, for the Winemaker Dinner. Wineries featured at the Tasting include Cakebread Cellars, Merry Edwards, and Patz & Hall, among others, and restaurants include Epic Roasthouse, Wayfare Tavern, A16 and Farallon, providing its ever-popular oyster bar.

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting, where attendees can sample signature hors d’oeuvres from 26 celebrated local restaurants and taste wine from 26 Bay Area wineries. A new addition to this year’s event is the VIP Reception, which features tasting from coveted cult wineries CaptûreWines, Gemstone Vineyard, Kosta Browne Winery and Robert Biale Vineyard, and an amuse boûche from the evening’s Executive Chefs. At 8:00 p.m. nine local executive chefs will prepare a four-course Winemaker Dinner, pairing each course with select wines. Tickets are now on sale for the Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting ($150/person) and the Winemaker Dinner ($500-$1,000 per person).

In addition to sampling some of the Bay Area’s best food and wine, participants will get to know some of the wonderful children served by Make-A-Wish through the wish stories highlighted throughout the evening.

Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. In 2012 Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area embarks on 28 years of fulfilling magical wishes. During its first year of operation, in 1984, the chapter granted 27 wishes. Now one of the largest chapters nationwide, the Greater Bay Area grants over 300 wishes per year and has granted over 6,000 wishes to date.
