Celebrate arrival of spring at Maryland Zoo in Baltimore (Video)

The signs of spring have returned once again. Chirping birds are signaling the end of winter. Animals are beginning to stir from hibernation or returning from the warm south. The residents at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore are not immune to this reawakening, and are ready to celebrate!

Zoo Bloom
On Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is hosting Zoo Bloom, a program suitable for all ages. The program is free with paid admission and completely free for members. Reservations are not required.

Join the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore in celebrating the return of spring. Zoo Bloom includes free face painting for kids, free native Maryland tree seedlings (while supplies last), and photo opportunities with Sphen the Penguin, the Zoo’s mascot, and other Animal Ambassadors.

Throughout the Zoo during Zoo Bloom, witness different animals experience seasonal enrichment activities that includes special treats. Also, listen to the Keeper Chats to learn more about a particular animal. A complete schedule can be found below:

What You Need to Know
The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is located in Druid Hill Park near the downtown area (click here for directions). Parking is free.

Regular Zoo hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily from March through December. Admission is $16.50 for adults (12-64), $13.50 for seniors (64+), and $11.50 children (2-11). Children 2 and under are admitted free.

Winter Zoo hours are (January-February) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Friday through Monday. Admission is $8.25 for adults (12-64), $6.75 for seniors (64+), and $5.75 children (2-11). Children 2 and under are admitted free.
