This star-spangled salute to America's independence is a fun, patriotic event. Pack a picnic and arrive early. Plenty of refreshments are also available for purchase. Continuous entertainment and special exhibits will keep you amused. Hear Cliff Wagner & The Old #7 play a mix of bluegrass, blues, and honky tonk. This year, there will even be a live auction on stage featuring prizes donated by businesses in the Santa Monica area. Ooh and aah when the evening explodes with a fantastic fireworks display honoring our nation.

Plunk down some cash, and enter the parking lot after 4 p.m. at Pico and 17th Street. Just make sure you arrive before it closes at 8:45 p.m. Gates generally open to Corsair Field and the stadium bleachers at 5 p.m. Be aware that the North and South Entry gates shut at 8:55 p.m. before the fireworks begin. Street parking is a challenge.

Let the rockets red glare!
