History buffs won't want to miss the opportunity to pay tribute to the 25th President of the United States, William McKinley at a special event taking place at the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum in Canton, Ohio on Saturday, January 25 that offers interesting activities for visitors of all ages.

A Bit About William McKinley Born in Niles, Ohio, William McKinley also served as a governor of Ohio. His terms as President of the United States lasted from March 4, 1897 until September, 1901 when he was assassinated in Buffalo, New York by Leon Czolgosz. The tombs of McKinley and his wife, Ida are located in a monument in Canton, Ohio near the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum.

McKinley Day A celebration of William McKinley's birthday, McKinley Day features a variety of activities including open hearth cooking demonstrations (Yes, samples of the food are available) and presentations by Civil War re-enactors. A highlight of the event will be the Laying of the Wreaths Ceremony where local veterans and a general representing the White House lay wreaths in McKinley's memory while "Taps" is played.

There will also be special shows in the museum's Discover World and in the Planetarium (at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.).

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m in the Museum Cafe.

Hours for McKinley Day are 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (60+) and $6 for students (3-18). Parking is free.
