With Easter at an early date this year it is less than a month away already. Falling on March 31 Easter festivities are the perfect time to celebrate both the holiday and the coming of spring!
For anyone new to Winston Salem a perfect place to celebrate Easter is in downtown Winston Salem and anyone from the city knows there is much to offer in that area. Old Salem is a great place to join in Easter hunts and activities while learning more about Moravian culture which is a huge component of this city’s history.
There will be fun family friend Easter activities all day Saturday March 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. plus a sunrise service on Easter Sunday March 31.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be from 10:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m. and take place in the Tavern Meadow on South Main Street. Children must be accompanied by an adult and participants should bring their own Easter basket.
One of the other activities is the historic egg dying class where people will dye their own Easter Eggs using historic dyes; cabbage, onion skins, and cochineal. Classes will take place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the Vierling Barn at 463 Church Street and each one lasts approximately 30 minutes.
To participate in all activities and for the best deal purchase an ‘All-In-One’ ticket which is good for all activities, including the Easter Egg Hunt. It costs $21 for adults and $10 for children ages 6 to 16 (children under 6 are free).
