Stop the press! It isn’t often that you hear that someone is planning to outdo everyone in Las Vegas in regards to grand entrances. After all Shania Twain rode a horse as her grand entrance in Las Vegas a few months back. It was rumored that CeeLo Green’s red carpet arrival to Planet Hollywood would surpass even that.
The crowds gathered early to catch a glimpse of the celebrity judge of the television show The Voice, recording artist, and soon to be Las Vegas’ newest headliner, CeeLo Green.
The crowd of onlookers were being entertained by Chet Buchanan from 98.5 KLUC radio show Chet Buchanan & The Morning Zoo. Chet was doing a wonderful job of keeping the people engaged as well as hyping up CeeLo’s grand entrance for his new Las Vegas show Loberace. At one point in the evening, Chet had several hundred people doing the wave around the outside stairwell of Planet Hollywood. The crowd was buzzing with excitement and anticipation.
Chet was in the middle of a sentence when the music stopped. Chet quickly informed the crowd to look towards Las Vegas Boulevard. Cellphones were trust in the air as the first signs of CeeLo’s ride came into sight.
Expect the unexpected is what the audience was told. Still those words could not prepare you for what happened. CeeLo Green was playing a burning piano on a flatbed trailer, which was getting pulled by a Semi. Several dancers who were dressed quit provocatively accompanied CeeLo. The piano wasn’t the only thing on fire as several bursts of fire erupted from metal cylinders placed around the trailer.
The crowd was delighted as they roared their approval. CeeLo Green wasn’t done yet. His dancers departed the trailer by way of a stairwell that was rolled up to greet them. CeeLo made it half way down the stairwell and posed as the flaming piano now burst into a fountain of sparks.
Showgirls lined the steps of Planet Hollywood welcoming CeeLo Green to the family. Once at the top of the steps, the president of Planet Hollywood, David Hoenemeyer and some of the showgirls from the cast of Jubilee also greeted CeeLo.
Planet Hollywood has a time-honored tradition of casting celebrities’ hands in cement and having them sign next to their imprints. CeeLo Green was now the newest of celebrities to have this honored bestowed on him.
CeeLo decided to start his own tradition, he poured two glasses of Ty-Ku Sake and toasted the crowd with Mr. Hoenemeyer. The crowd cheered as the photographers snapped away.
CeeLo took a moment to pose for the photographers. After the last few bursts of flashes rained down on the red carpet, CeeLo eagerly danced over to his waiting fans. He shook hands and even hugged a few people. Then he was whisked inside Planet Hollywood where I was told a celebration party for the opening of Loberace was about to begin.
If CeeLo’s entrance is anything like his show, Las Vegas is about to get a whole lot wilder. The show Loberace starts tonight February 27, 2013 and is here for a limited time.
