The 28th annual Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show is taking place this week in Las Vegas. Nightclub and bar operators from all over the world come to the show to check out the latest in marketing, operations, products and consumer trends. From energy drinks to specialty vodka, show attendees were busy tasting and enjoying the party vibe of the Las Vegas Convention Center. New Las Vegas headliner CeeLo Green was on hand to open the show with a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the convention. Green's show “CeeLo Green is LOBERACE” is at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino through April 13.
Two pervasive trends at the show were hangover prevention drinks and flavored liqueurs. For the ultimate breakfast enthusiast, Mama Walker's is a new line of breakfast inspired liqueurs. It includes the flavors Blueberry Pancake, Maple Bacon and and Glazed Donut, available in stores later this year. If you've had a few too many, you can use a "Test or Arrest" disposable breathalyzer to make sure you are okay to drive. To use, simply activate, breathe into the tube for 12 seconds and wait 2 minutes for the result. The manufacturer hopes to have the tests available at bars and convenience stores or you can purchase them online at www.testorsrrest.com.
Another show favorite was Tea of a Kind. This innovative tea has a unique pressurized cap that instantly infuses brewed tea into the bottle when opened. Each bottle only has about 10 calories and is sweetened with Stevia. The tea comes in Peach Ginger, Citrus Mint Green and Pomegranate Acai. They hope to have cocktail and energizing water varieties in stores by the end of this year. Tea of a Kind is available at Vons, Kroger and select Las Vegas Strip Hotels.
The show also offered many products to enhance the customer experience inside the bar. A company called TV Ears has created a smartphone app you can use as a speaker to hear the televisions over loud bar crowds. If beer pong is one of your favorite pastimes, Bay Tek Games has a beer pong arcade game that offers the fun without the mess. Photo booths are all the rage these days, every wedding or event has one in the corner. Face Place hopes to put them in your local bar.
