Cedric the Entertainer is new host of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire'

Fresh off a guest spot on Kevin Hart's BET hit "Real Husbands of Hollywood," Cedric the Entertainer ("The Soul Man," "Kings of Comedy") has found himself a permanent home as the new host of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire."

Following in friend and former co-star Steve Harvey's footsteps as the front man for an iconic game show, comedian/actor Cedric the Entertainer was tapped as host this week and will join the 12th season of the show in national syndication this fall. He replaces longtime host Meredith Vieira, who has headlined the weekday edition of the show since its premiere in 2002.

The powers-that-be at Disney-ABC say they're "thrilled" Cedric will be at the helm as their new host of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire."

"With his deep roots as a successful stand-up comedian and actor, Cedric will bring his fresh approach and unpredictable fun to the show," said Janice Marinelli, president of Disney-ABC Domestic Television.

"I'm truly looking forward to hosting 'Millionaire'," Cedric added. "The team at Disney-ABC has been great at putting the right elements together over 11 seasons ... [and] I'm excited to entertain all those who watch and play as season 12 launches. It's going to be a good time every day!!"

Here's hoping Cedric works his magic like Harvey has done for "Family Feud."

"Who Wants to be a Millionaire" airs daily.
