Are you still looking for Molly? She’ll probably be at Shrine Nightclub on Tuesday, February 11th for the re-scheduled performance of Grammy winner Cedric Gervais. Gervais recently took home his first Grammy for his remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness.”
Having to re-schedule his original January 21st performance due to cold & hazardous weather conditions, Gervais will certainly be heating things up in Shrine this time around. Tickets are currently available for $20 in advance, or can be purchased at the door (subject to increased rate).
Q & A with Cedric Gervais
1. SK: Who/what inspires you? Who’s music is playing on your iPod (or your music player of choice) right now?
CG: “Daft Punk, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix are artists that have inspired me in one way or another.”
2. SK: Have you ever DJ’d at Shrine before? What are your expectations?
CG: “Yes, I love the energy of the crowd at Shrine, if I remember correctly you guys know how to party. Let’s go!”
3. SK: What are you looking forward to in 2014? Any new albums or artist collaborations you can tell me about? Which current artist would you like to work with?
CG: “I’m really excited about my next collaboration with Miley Cyrus, I’ve remixed her new single “Adore You” and will be putting this out in the next few weeks. I’m also working with songwriter Rick Nowels who wrote "Summertime Sadness" and "Young and Beautiful" with Lana Del Rey. And I’m planning some big productions of my own and possibly an album towards the end of the year.”
4. SK: What’s your take on the title “EDM?” Do you think it’s fair/appropriate for artists in the electronic music category to be “labeled” under such a broad category?
CG: “Coming from Europe & DJing and producing house music for such a long time, I don’t feel it necessary to categorize all the genres under one umbrella.”
