Hot on the heels of sleeper hit "Summertime Sadness," French DJ Cedric Gervais announced the release date of his next Lana Del Rey remix on Thursday. His house music makeover of "Young and Beautiful" from "The Great Gatsby" soundtrack will be released next month.
Del Rey experienced unexpected success in the U.S. with Gervais' remix of "Summertime Sadness." The two artists hit the top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 for the first time four weeks ago and they are still hanging in there this week. Now, he has his sights on future success with another Del Rey track, her "The Great Gatsby" contribution "Young and Beautiful."
"Young and Beautiful" became Del Rey's first big hit in the U.S. earlier this year when it peaked at no. 22 on the Hot 100 chart. With the recent success of "Summertime Sadness," there has been a renewed interested in her "The Great Gatsby" tune so the song has been scaling the chart once again (it currently sits at no. 65). Gervais' EDM remix of "Young" could help it become Del Rey's next top 40 crossover hit and push it past its original chart peak.
Billboard reports that the U.S. promotion of Gervais' "Young and Beautiful" remix is being "held until awards season this winter." Del Rey's beautifully somber ballad has the potential to be nominated for a Golden Globe and Academy Award (and it rightfully should be) so the release timing seems perfect.
Gervais' "Young and Beautiful" remix will be released on October 11. Del Rey's "Born to Die" album, which features the original version of "Summertime Sadness," has sold over 700,000 copies in the U.S. Her next project, a mini-film entitled "Tropico," should be released soon.
