Cedartown businesses burglarized and ransacked

On Wednesday, February 15, 2012, Cedartown police were dispatched to the dollar tree, located in the Wal-Mart plaza; after the store manager arrived to open up the business only to find that her office had been ransacked. Not certain if anyone was still inside the business, the manager waited outside until police arrived to clear the scene.

Police arrived on the scene to find that the rear door to the business had been pried open and a safe was cut open. Reports indicate that approximately $2400 in cash was stolen.

A rash of burglaries was also reported within the month of February at the storage units located at 501 Tenth Street in Cedartown. The storage units appeared to be locked, however; they were unlocked and each unit also had a hole in the ceiling. It appeared that the entry point into the storage buildings was an unlocked unit. Several items were reported missing.

On February 17, 2012, the owner of B & D Garage, located on Furnace Street in Cedartown reported scrap metal theft. The report stated that numerous items were stolen, including water pumps, radiators, brake pads and brake drums.
