Cedar Rapids spring cleans

Spring is the time many folks get the itch to cleanup and get organized. The city of Cedar Rapids has taken this annual desire to a heightened level. The city has created an active cleaning up program and dedicated a large chunk of its website to the CleanUpCR program.

The program has many events scheduled to focus on getting the city cleaned up and in order. This Saturday, April 28 from 9am to noon, residents are invited to help with the I-380 Litter Collection. With several miles of interstate running through the metro area, plenty of litter accumulates and someone needs to clean it up. When residents volunteer, it shows they are proud of the community and willing to pitch in.

Volunteers are asked to check in at Sam's Club parking lot on Blairsferry Road. Assignments of areas will be given and all volunteers can help themselves to a piece of pizza and beverage from Sam's Club after completing their service.

The full schedule of CleanUpCR events can be viewed at www.cleanupcr.com.
