Cedar Grilling Papers: way or no way?
I can't say how long salmon grilled on a cedar plank has been "in," but I was hoping it would be "out" by now.
I like barbecue as much as the next gal, and I really enjoy the mellow, smoky flavor that slow cooking and smoking has to offer. But I don't like my food to taste like a hunk of wood. Nope. No way. I've tried the cedar planked salmon in several reputable restaurants in our area and I have yet to enjoy one. They all taste too darn, well, like a cedar plank.
Perhaps Cedar Grilling Papers are the answer? Could this thin plane of cedar deliver just a hint of that smoky goodness I'm after, without making the fish taste like it was cooked on the roof of the barn next door?
What do you think? Do you enjoy the taste of cedar planked salmon, or just the idea and presentation of it? And, if you've tried the cedar grilling papers, or plan to try them over the Memorial Day weekend, how did you like them? Report back and share your thoughts below.
