CD Projekt RED 'focused on expanding rather than slimming' The Witcher 3's world

As a game expands there are often places where it needs to shrink to accommodate that change. Compared to the previous title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is enormous. In our exclusive interview with Gameplay Designer Andrzej Kwiatkowski, we asked exactly where we might see some of the fat being trimmed off.

"We’re totally focused on expanding everything rather than slimming things down," Kwiatkowski boldly states. "Aside from quick-time events (but you already mentioned that), we've tried to iterate and enhance almost everything to make it better than in the previous parts. Be it the combat mechanics, methods of travel or the gigantic world the game is set in."

Not all games can focus completely on expansion without compromise, but CD Projekt RED seeks to do that with the upcoming Wild Hunt. Only one thing that remains to be seen, and that's how it will impact the overall quality.
