CCSU suspect update: The CCSU lockdown that occurred today was the result of reports of the presence of a potentially armed man on campus. CCSU officials urged students to seek shelter inside buildings, and to close and lock doors. As reported by News 8, in response to the Central Connecticut State University lockdown, CCSU officials posted the following message on Twitter: "Campus emergency. Seek shelter. Lock doors, close windows. We will communicate when we have more info. This is not a drill."
According to initial reports, only one suspect was taken into custody following the CCSU lockdown. However, News 8 says that three persons of interest are in custody.
Regarding the CCSU suspect, a report from the New York Times reads: A suspect was taken into custody in a dormitory at Central Connecticut State University on Monday, about three hours after a student called 911 to say he had seen a man in combat fatigues walking across the campus with a gun and a samurai sword.
There have been no reports of shots being fired during the CCSU lockdown and no one was injured, however, the incident triggered a tremendous police presence at the campus.
"We are very heartened that this has turned out as well as it has," said Mark McLaughlin, a CCSU spokeman.
