A CCSU lockdown was issued due to an "active shooter situation" in New Britain, Conn on Monday. Central Connecticut State University told students to remain indoors and away to keep away from the windows. Orlando Sentinel reports Nov. 4 that a man was led away in handcuffs around 2:30 p.m., but the school was still on lockdown at 3 p.m.
There were reports that a suspicious person was running around campus with a gun and a sword. He was reportedly boxed in by police at James Hall before he was handcuffed.
No injuries were reported in the CCSU lockdown incident.
The university's website informed students and school officials that the CCSU lockdown was "not a drill" and that they all needed to get inside buildings and remain there. Mark McLaughlin, the university's spokesman, didn't give away too many details at the beginning of the lockdown, only that police were adamant everyone find safety inside.
The CCSU lockdown is yet another example of how gun threats have dominated headlines in the nation recently.
