CBS Sports Network celebrates 75 years of March Madness

CBS Sports’ salute to 75 years of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship continues on CBS Sports Network on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. with “CBS Sports Presents 75 Years of NCAA March Madness: The Ultimate Bracket”.

The two-hour show determines which NCAA national championship team would prevail in a hypothetical field of all 74 past winners, comparing teams from the various eras including Bill Russell’s San Francisco teams of the 1950s, the UCLA dynasty teams of the 1960s and 70s, through the Duke and UNLV teams of the early 1990s and the Roy Williams North Carolina teams of the 21st Century.

Greg Gumbel hosts and is joined by analysts Clark Kellogg, Seth Davis, Mateen Cleaves, Wally Szczerbiak and CBSSports.com college basketball columnist Gary Parrish. The panel discusses and debates the results as determined by a computer simulation of each game 50,000 times. Variables considered include each team’s average margin of victory, pace-adjusted team and player stats and strength-of-schedule.

Programming continues on Sunday with a series of five shows counting down the 75 greatest moments in NCAA Tournament history. Hosted by Doug Gottlieb, “CBS Sports Presents 75 Years of NCAA March Madness: 75 Greatest Moments features moments such as Kansas’ 1952 NCAA Championship under famed head coach Phog Allen, North Carolina State’s buzzer-beater over Houston’s Phi Slamma Jamma in 1983, Magic vs. Bird in 1979 and Michael Jordan’s championship-winning shot against Georgetown.

On Friday, April 5, CBS Sports Presents 75 Years of NCAA March Madness: The All-Time Team at 9:30 p.m., a one-hour show selecting the best players in NCAA Tournament history, selected by a panel of experts, in addition to fan voting.
