Melissa McCarthy has come a long way since growing up in Plainfield, IL. In the past year, she’s won and been nominated for awards for her roles in both Mike & Molly (which takes place in Chicago) and the acclaimed comedy Bridesmaids. Now, she has another feather in her cap. CBS has picked up her new creation, a comedy pilot starring her real-life husband Ben Falcone.
The premise of McCarthy’s new comedy is that Falcone will play a single guy in his late 30s, “who loses everything he has in the real estate collapse and finds himself back home in the house he grew up in... with his parents."
The comedy has not yet been named, but the plot sounds eerily familiar to another recent pilot pickup by ABC, “How to Live With Your Parents For the Rest of Your Life,” which stars another comedy superstar, Sarah Chalke.
But with Melissa McCarthy’s extensive comedy resume and knack for good jokes, chances are she’ll make her pilot plenty funny and refreshing -- and with a better (if not shorter) title.
