Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Production's hit CBS multi-camera sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" is currently in production on it's fifth season and casting for principal actors and extras is ongoing in Los Angeles. The series is now the number one show on Thursday night primetime, beating out Fox's "American Idol", and continues to show steady growth in the ratings. "The Big Bang Theory" has been extended by CBS through the 2013–2014 season.
Much of the show focuses on science, particularly physics. The four main male characters are employed at Caltech and have science-related occupations. The characters frequently banter about scientific theories or news, notably around the start of the show, and make science-related jokes. Awards won by "The Big Bang Theory" include Golden Globe Award for Best Series – Musical or Comedy; Television Critics Association - Outstanding Achievement in Comedy; People's Choice Award - Favorite TV Comedy; and countless other individual award nominations and wins by the cast and crew. Mark Cendrowski is the main director used for the vast majority of "The Big Bang Theory" episodes. Cendrowski is a long time veteran director of Disney Channel series and movies, including such shows as Hannah Montana, Cory in the House, Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck, A.N.T. Farm, and Billion Dollar Freshmen. Cendrowski started out working on the ABC series "Full House" as a stage manager before moving on to assistant/associate director work and eventually director.
