Hana Lokomaika'i” opened with Chin Ho being questioned by Internal Affairs over the death of his father 15 years ago. He was gunned down in an attempted robbery at a super market. They accuse Chin Ho of covering up that investigation because his brother in-law Gabriel Waincroft may have been involved.

15 years ago – Chin Ho talked to his former wife who asks him to keep her brother from jail. He influences the investigators to ignore Gabriel's arrest who is then let go. Internal Affairs gets under the skin of Chin Ho who is persuaded by McGarrett & Kono to get through it by speaking only the truth. Gabriel it turns out to be a ruthless gang member, drug dealer & is accused by Internal Affairs as a murderer.

Chin Ho was asked to stay out of the investigation into the death of his father. He still goes after a gun traced to a Ronald Polao. That gun actually belonged to Teddy Luna, but the eye witness at the super market claims he wasn't the robber who killed Chin Ho's dad. Kono noticed a tattoo on Teddy Luna that was also the same tattoo on Gabriel. It is a gang member tattoo & Chin Ho confronts Garbiel about how he got that tattoo.

Internal Affairs keeps on pushing Chin Ho about Gabriel who had an air tight alibi on the night Chin Ho's father was killed. The leads in the investigation run out & several years go by with no arrest into the father's death. The owner of the super market died soon after the shooting. Internal Affairs thinks that Chin Ho covered up for Gabriel because of his sister, the wife of Chin Ho.
