“Elementary” stars, Jonny Lee Miller (Sherlock Holmes), Lucy Liu (Dr. Joan Watson), Aidan Quinn (Captain Thomas Gregson) & Jon Michael Hill (Detective Marcus Bell).
“An unnatural arrangement” opened with Sherlock testing Watson on observing prison cell-mates. He wants her to be a better detective consultant in solving crimes. Meanwhile, Cheryl Gregson walks into her home & discovers an intruder who aims a gun at her. He wears a mask & is distracted by an alarm. Cheryl runs upstairs to grab her own gun. She shoots through the bedroom door & supposedly wounds the intruder who quickly escapes. Her husband is Captain Thomas Gregson.
The Gregson's have been on a trial separation from their marriage as Thomas lives elsewhere. Sherlock & Watson look at the personal & professional files of Thomas. They search for men who have been connected to the captain in one way or another. Sherlock discovers that Thomas is being stalked by a man named Dustin Bishop.
Sherlock & Watson go to Dustin's apartment to question him & Watson picks the lock on his door. He is obsessed with the captain who has photos of Thomas all over his wall. They find Dustin bleeding on his bathroom floor. It turns out he shot himself & was not the man who broke into the Gregson's home.
Sam Klennen who served in the military at Afghanistan was killed by an intruder caught on camera outside his home. Cheryl recognized that intruder as the same man. They're now back to square one with the search for the real killer.
The Gregson's have an argument over a neighbor witnessing a blue pick-up truck parked outside their house. A male contractor has been visiting Cheryl. Meanwhile, James Monroe who served in Afghanistan with Sam was also found dead on his living room floor. He is a neighbor of the Gregson's. The intruder may have been in the wrong house looking for Monroe instead of Thomas.
The investigation brings Sherlock & Watson to an archaeological dig. The men who were murdered had worked on that dig as security guards. Can they find who was involved with stealing artifacts from the dig? Did the killer sell those artifacts on the black market? Were the military men in the way of the killer or killers?
