The modern day Sherlock Holmes “Elementary” (CBS) can be seen each Thursday evening at 10/9 p.m. Last night's episode on Dec. 5, 2013 was called, “Tremors.” In the overnight TV ratings it grabbed 8.19 million TV viewers overall. It reached 1.8 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. It was beaten by “Scandal” (ABC) with 8.60 overall & 3.1 with adults. The 3 hour live musical “The Sound of Music” (NBC) garnered huge ratings with 18.50 overall & 4.6 with adults.
“Tremors” opened with Sherlock in court on the witness stand talking about a young man who had delusions about killing his Queen (girlfriend) of the middle ages. The judge explains to him that the reason he is being questioned in court because he bungled a murder investigation. The court hearing is to determine whether Sherlock & Watson are able to continue to consult with the NYPD.
A police officer was shot during this investigation. In flashback - A young man walks into the police department & believes he is a “Knight” from the middle ages. He tells the detectives that it was his duty to kill his “Queen” named Miss Hollingsworth. Detective Bell found a magazine subscription made out to her who was found dead in her apartment. The Knight & the Queen used to be a couple.
Sherlock tells the court that the supposed Queen was shot in the heart & in the middle ages a Knight would not do that if he was in love with her. It turns out that detective Bell is the one who was shot & is now laid up in the hospital. He was fine until a blood clot appeared that infected his arm. That arm may never fully recover flexibility.
Sherlock believes that the Knight was innocent of the Queen's murder. In flashback - Sherlock & Watson question a cancer doctor with whom the Queen was receiving prescription drugs. They uncover that she had a huge amount of money in her life insurance policy. Sherlock believes that the real killer called the Knight to the Queen's apartment one hour after she was murdered.
Did the delusional Knight get released from police custody? How did detective Bell get shot? Will Sherlock & Watson be removed as consultants with the NYPD?
