If you tuned into CBS Atlanta this week then you may have noticed some major changes at the station. On Tuesday February 25, the Atlanta CBS affiliate unveiled new graphics, a new studio and a new name. CBS Atlanta is now known as CBS 46. The station’s rebranding comes several years after the station dropped its station number. The station has been known as WGNX news, Channel 46, Clear News and most recently CBS Atlanta. CBS 46 has apparently also dropped its “Tough Questions” slogan. The once prominent phrase is nowhere to be found on the redesigned CBSAtlanta.com.
Over the past year the station has been undergoing changes in personnel. Last June CBS Atlanta news anchor JaQuitta Williams left the station citing that the station was going in a different direction. The following July “Better Mornings Atlanta” anchor Brandon Rudat left after a three year stint. The station’s new hires include Michelle Burdo, Frank Wiley and Stefan Chase; they anchor the station’s morning newscast with meteorologist Jennifer Valdez.
The station’s new studio and graphics looks amazing on an HD television. The news desk sits in front of a giant video wall that displays a crisp image of the Atlanta skyline. The news desk itself has a video display in the front that can display graphics such as “Breaking News” or “Developing Story”. The studio also has a position with large monitors where anchors can do standup reports, a cool station for weather and a new kitchen.
