The Capital Bicycle Racing Club (CBRC) has committed $250.00 to the USA Cycling's Race Clean Program for 2014. The USAC Race Clean Program provides funding and a process for testing competitive cyclists at the National and local levels. This is the second year that CBRC and its USAC Local Association, the New York State Bicycle Racing Association (NYSBRA) have provided funding to eradicate performance enhancing drugs in the sport of cycling, ensure a level playing field, and promote cyclist's health and well-being. CBRC and NYSBRA were among the first organizations in the country to support this national program with real dollars.
Testing athletes is expensive. USAC will match funds from its local associations for up to $6,000.00. Individuals can also donate to this program at the USAC web site here...
It is the athlete's responsibility to become familiar with this program and the substances that are prohibited. Therefore, an important aspect of the Race Clean Program is athlete education. USAC provides answers to frequently asked questions and links to information for cyclists regarding the Race Clean Program, the USA Anti-Doping Agency's testing process, its education program, and prohibited substances. Become familiar with the Race Clean Program, learn how it is administered, and most important of all, review the substances that are prohibited.
