The event will also include a block party of sorts. In addition to amazing music, attendees will be able to skateboard, rock climb, and dance during the silent disco. For those that like to browse, there will also be an equipment expo and record fair.
Now in its second year, the CBGB Music and Film Festival will take place over six days, October 9-13, and feature hundreds of bands in a wide range of genres playing almost 175 venues across Manhattan and Brooklyn. Making its home at the Landmark Sunshine Theatre, the festival will also play host to over 125 conference speakers and 100 rock music films, including the premiere of ‘CBGB The Movie.’
The festival recently announced its two keynote speakers for 2013. Former MTV Networks president and current Viacom Music and Logo Networks president Van Toffler will give the festival keynote. Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan will give the musicians keynote. Two awards will also be given out. The CBGB Indie Award will go to Magnolia Pictures President Eamonn Bowles, and Seymour Stein will receive the CBGB Icon Award.
New this year, the festival has launched its own iPhone and Android app. The app features a full list of bands, showcases, conference events, film screenings and more. You can also plan your own festival schedule by saving events, and get reminders about when your favorites start.
The free show takes place on October 12 from 10 A.M. until 7 P.M. in Times Square. The CBGB Music and Film Festival goes from October 9 through October 13. For a listing of bands, panels, films, and more, visit the CBGB website.
