According to CBC in a press release on Friday, an amazing total of 5.6 million people watched Canada's 3-2 victory over the United States on Wednesday.

Canadians love hockey. Eighty percent of Canadians watched part of the gold medal game between Canada and the United States at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver according to the Canadian Press.

But the fact that one sixth of Canadians watched a preliminary women's hockey game between Canada and the United States for a game that started at 5:30 a.m. mountain time is quite frankly phenomenal.

As for Meghan Agosta-Marciano, she has become a Canadian sensation for scoring two goals on her 27th birthday.

Team Canada and Team United States have advanced to the semi-finals on Monday. Canada will play the winner of Russia and Switzerland, while the United States will play the winner of Finland and Sweden. The women's quarterfinals take place on Saturday. After two periods of play, Finland leads Sweden 1-0.
