Cayuga Lake wineries prepping for 'Mardi Gras'

New York State's various wine trails are busy places year-round. Take as just one example the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail's upcoming 11th annual "Mardi Gras" event.

It is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, February 9-10.

Visitors will go from winery to winery to receive specialty Mardi Gras beads and a chance to pick up a lucky coin worth instant pries as well as a scavenger hunt that will pay off with a sampler case of wines from Trail members.

Those visitors will be able to begin at any participating winery on the Trail, where they will be given a wine glass for sampling. Wine and food pairings and recipe cards -- plus beads, of course -- will be handed out at each stop.

Tickets will be available by calling (800) 684-5217, or picked up at any Wegmans grocery store.

Members of the Trail include:

  • Americana Vineyards
  • Bellwether Hard Cider
  • Buttonwood Grove Winery
  • Cayuga Ridge Estate Winery
  • Cobblestone Farm Winery
  • Goose Watch Winery
  • Hosmer Winery
  • King Ferry Winery
  • Knapp Winery
  • Long Point Winery
  • Lucas Vineyards
  • Montezuma Winery
  • Sheldrake Point Winery
  • Six Mile Creek Vineyard
  • Swedish Hill Vineyard
