Cave Spring man dies during surgery after tree falls on vehicle

According to an Associated Press report, a Cave Spring man has died during surgery after a tree fell on his truck as he was driving during Monday's thunderstorm.

Larry James Agan, 65, died at Floyd Medical Center after he was extricated from his vehicle on Cave Spring Road inside Polk County. Agan's son, who was in the vehicle at the time of the accident, sustained non-life-threatening injuries

Redmond EMS, who assisted in the extrication, rushed Agan to Floyd Medical center where he died during surgery.

John House's Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Larry James Agan.

The storm brought high winds and pelted some areas with hail the size of golf balls. Georgia Power officials said 73,000 customers lost power Monday night and about 21,700 were still without service as of Tuesday afternoon.

Polk County had the highest number of outages statewide, followed by Floyd County.
