Cavalry tramples Millrats

The Manchester Millrats have fallen to 1-2 in the 2010 campaign, after losing to the Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry 109-98 yesterday afternoon. Their second loss in a row after being victorious in the season opener.

Manchester started the game strong with offensive attacks from Anthony Anderson and Stanley Ocitti. Though the Millrats only had a two point lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter started with the Millrats extending their lead to six, before the Cavalry came charging with a 14-0 point run to completely seize the momentum of the game and making it a 41-33 lead. Anderson then continued his offensive attack with two three pointers to close the gap and make it a 49-43 ball game at the half.

The second half was a half where the lead just stayed out of Manchester's reach staying in the range of a five to ten point deficit. Ultimately the Cavalry prevailed with the win.

"We competed against a very good Oklahoma team, they've played together for a couple years and it shows," explained Millrats Head Coach Heath Teixeira. "I think we grew as a team on this road trip, and it taught up what level we need to execute at each night to be successful."

Anderson and Tim Ellis of the Cavalry led all scorers with 23 points apiece. Other key Millrat contributors were Ocitti with 21 points and 9 rebounds, Alexus Foyle added 18 points off the bench and Dwight Brewington had 14 points.

On Saturday and Sunday the Millrats will be at home looking to bounce back against the Rochester Razorsharks and the Quebec Kebs. Both games start at 7:00 PM, with tickets available online and at the door.
