CAVALISA coming to the Cadillac Hotel this Saturday

The next gig in the free Concerts at the Cadillac series in the lobby of the Cadillac Hotel will be taking place on Saturday, rather than the usual Friday. The program will feature CAVALISA, the vocalists Lisa Forkish and Cava Menzies (who also doubles on piano), fresh from last month’s release party at Yoshi’s Oakland for their first album, Vast is the Sky. They will perform as part of a nine-piece group that will probably include the musicians who joined them on that album: bassist David Pulphus, vocalist Armando Cordoba, drummer Jaz Sawyer, and trumpeter Tracy Fitzsimmons.

This performance will take place in the lobby of the Cadillac Hotel (380 Eddy Street at the corner of Leavenworth Street) this coming Saturday (again, not Friday), March 16, at the usual time of 12:30 p.m. The concert will last about one hour, followed by the usual raffle of ten CDs. With the partial support of the North of Market/Tenderloin Community Benefit District, this concert is offered free of charge by the hotel as a gift to the people of the Tenderloin. The Cadillac calls itself “The House of Welcome Since 1907;” and all are definitely welcome to this free jazz opportunity.
