Caught in the act: Days weekly recap 4/29/2011

Last week on Days, Lexi went to Bo and Hope’s house to see if there was any news on the kids. Lexi blamed Hope for Ciara running away, bringing up her time in jail and Bo’s relationship with Carly. Abe interrupted them to tell them that a neighbor had seen a truck leave the neighborhood at the same time the kids went missing. The kids were hanging out by the truck and they assumed the kids snuck onto the truck and rode it into the next town, Centerville. Lexi apologized to Hope, who assured her that they’d find the kids.

Meanwhile, Ciara and Theo went into town to find some food and came across a teenage runaway. They begged the girl, Leah, not to tell anyone she’d seen them. Leah gave them some food and Ciara insisted on giving her a necklace in return. Later, a cop stopped Leah and discovered the necklace. He took her to the Centerville police station and called Bo. Bo and Hope raced to the station, but Leah wasn’t talking. Despite Hope’s pleas, Leah refused to cooperate. Bo finally blackmailed her into telling Hope what she knew. Hope thanked Leah and offered to get her help while Bo rushed out to find the kids.

Fake Rafe kissed Alicia in the kitchen of his apartment after their night together, assuring her that no one would interrupt them. Dario barged in and told Rafe he’d better be giving the girl mouth to mouth. He ran Alicia off before lecturing Rafe about cheating on Sami. Fake Rafe told Dario he needed to move out because Rafe was leaving and Sami wouldn’t want him there anymore. Dario told Rafe he’d caught Arianna’s killer. Rafe brushed him off.

On the side of a road, Fake Rafe was trying to fix the engine of his car when Ciara and Theo showed up. Cursing his luck, Fake Rafe greeted the kids who asked him not to tell anyone he was there. Fake Rafe agreed but asked the kids not to tell anyone they saw him. Ciara promised not to tell, but Theo said he couldn’t lie. Fake Rafe grabbed Theo by the arm just as Bo showed up. Bo shared a tearful reunion with the kids and called Hope to share the good news. Bo insisted Rafe come back to his house with him.

At Bo and Hope’s house, Abe, Lexi, Bo and Hope celebrated the kids’ return with cupcakes. Hope assured Ciara that she and Bo were back together and happy and that Ciara was a big part of that. When Fake Rafe was alone with the kids, he told them they’d misunderstood them earlier and got them to laugh by putting icing on Ciara’s nose. Hope remarked that he was great with the kids. Bo told Fake Rafe he couldn’t leave town until he gave his official statement. There was a knock on the door and Bo asked Rafe to get it. He opened the door to see Sami standing there.

Sami explained that she’d heard Rafe had found the kids… and that he’d requested a leave of absence. She suggested the two of them go home and talk about it. The kids returned to the room, and Theo shouted for Rafe to go away. Lexi apologized to Rafe who said he understood while the other adults in the room looked at him, baffled. Sami said the two of them were leaving. When Rafe and Sami were gone, Ciara told Bo and Hope that Rafe was nice when grown ups were around, but not with just kids. Bo and Hope exchanged glances.

Back at the apartment, Sami called her grandmother and thanked her for watching the kids. She confessed to Rafe that she’d done a lot of thinking at her brother’s but she wanted to get unpacked before she discussed it with him. When Sami left the room, Fake Rafe said, “I knew what to do with Fay, and I know what to do with you too, Sami.”

Meanwhile, the real Rafe managed to escape and flee the mental institution. He was running through the woods when he was caught by two doctors who warned him that there was no escape. Cornered, Rafe slipped and fell down a ravine. One of the doctors called Stefano and told him that the patient had escaped… but there’s no way he survived the fall. Stefano told EJ, who laughed that Rafe should’ve watched where he was going. Stefano called back and told his men to find the body. Later, Rafe woke up at the bottom of the ravine disoriented, but alive.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Brady asked Melanie if it was strange being back. She said it was and they discussed her relationship with Phillip. Brady said after Phillip left Victor had kicked Chloe out. Brady said he could sympathize with Chloe because he’d made mistakes too. Melanie said Chloe’s mistakes were worse and that she’d obviously meant to hurt Daniel or she wouldn’t have slept with Phillip.

At the Brady Pub, Victor asked Chloe where he should have his staff send her belongings. Maggie said to have them sent to her house. Victor said she had to be kidding. Maggie said he was wrong to pass judgment on Chloe when she needed help. Maggie lectured Victor on his character until Victor forced her to choose: him or Chloe. Maggie chose Chloe. Maggie found Chloe at the pier and comforted her. Chloe didn’t want to come between Maggie and Victor, but Maggie said she hadn’t. Victor went back to the mansion and told Melanie that Chloe had talked Maggie into feeling sorry for her.

Later, Melanie found Chloe and confronted her. She said Chloe should just leave town instead of staying in a place where everyone hated her. Melanie said she’d keep hounding Chloe until she quit hurting the people she loved. Maggie interrupted and defended Chloe. Chloe apologized to Melanie and ran off while Maggie called Melanie out on her behavior. Melanie accused Maggie of taking sides, but Maggie said Chloe needed her help.

Chloe went to the Cheatin’ Heart and drank a martini as she looked over her divorce papers. Justin spotted her and asked Chloe if there was anything he could do for her. Chloe asked if he could get her marriage, her child and her life back. Justin asked Chloe if she had any money, reminding her that Daniel would have given her alimony. Chloe said she was fine and kept drinking. Worried, Justin got Chloe some coffee and a plate of food. When he insisted he was just trying to help, Chloe told him to leave her alone and threw her plate across the room. Justin backed off. A man approached and asked Chloe on a date, but she said she wasn’t ready. When the man left, Justin returned and said he couldn’t imagine what she was going through and wanted to help. Chloe told him to find another charity case because she’d be fine.

At the hospital, Melanie told Carly she’d been attacked and reminded her that she’d left her messages the night before. Flustered, Carly said she’d gone home and crashed without checking them after a difficult surgery. Maxine approached Melanie and quietly told her there would be a meeting later about some missing medication. Melanie wondered to Carly who would be dumb enough to steal pills as Carly tried to steady her hands. Carly suggested they go to Daniel’s.

At his apartment, Daniel looked over his divorce papers in disgust. He was about to leave when he ran into Jennifer, who asked why he wasn’t at the hospital. Daniel told her he’d had his locks changed because Melanie was attacked. He invited her inside. Noticing the divorce papers, Jennifer apologized. Daniel said it was all right and that he’d moved on. Jennifer said she knew that because she’d seen Carly kissing Daniel. Daniel said Carly had been a mess that night but that he hadn’t kissed her back. Jennifer and Daniel both said Carly had been avoiding them lately. Daniel asked if Jennifer had been trying to set him up with Carly so he wouldn’t hit on her all the time. Daniel was interrupted by Melanie, who broke the news to Daniel about Phillip taking Parker out of town. When Melanie left, Daniel talked to Jennifer about his feelings. They admitted to liking one another and kissed.

Carly and Melanie came to Daniel’s and realized Jennifer and Daniel were talking about a date. As Daniel and Melanie went to open a bottle of wine, Jennifer asked Carly how she felt about it because Carly looked taken aback. Carly insisted she was fine with Jennifer and Daniel dating and suggested maybe Jennifer felt guilty and was reading too much into Carly’s reaction. Carly made an excuse about needing to run errands and left. Jennifer left too and quietly told Daniel she was looking forward to their date. Later, Jennifer told Abby she had made plans with the doctor. Abby called Daniel “stupid hot.”

Dario ran into Melanie, who told him she didn’t want things to be weird between them. They were on the same team, she reminded him, now that Arianna’s killer had been found. Dario suggested they made a fresh start and go out to dinner. Melanie said she wasn’t ready to date yet. Dario implied that she’d rather date Brady, and Melanie muttered “no comment.” Melanie asked if everything was a challenge for Dario. When she walked away, he said he liked a challenge. Dario went to the Cheatin’ Heart and applied for a bartending job, explaining to Adrienne that he loved a challenge.

Nicole helped Taylor into the living room as EJ finished a call. Taylor announced she’d be finding a new place to live, but Nicole begged her to stay. Stefano entered the room and announced Theo and Ciara were missing. Taylor left to be with Lexi. Nicole told EJ that Rafe had left town. EJ didn’t seem surprised and said it was only a matter of time since he was married to Samantha. Stefano asked Nicole for a moment alone with his son. Nicole thanked him sarcastically for asking how her mother’s funeral had gone.

EJ told Stefano to treat Nicole with respect. He said he didn’t want her to know what was coming. Stefano asked what that was and EJ said he was going to divorce Nicole. Stefano wondered why when he’d only gotten married to provide a stable home life for Johnny and Sydney. EJ said he wanted to be with Taylor.
When Taylor returned, EJ told her he planned to divorce Nicole to be with her. Taylor told him not to go through with it because it would break Nicole’s heart. EJ said he couldn’t go back to the way things were because he’d fallen in love with Taylor. He said it wouldn’t be right to string Nicole along when he wasn’t in love with her and that she deserved real love, too. Taylor said she was confused. EJ asked Taylor to deny she loved him and Taylor admitted she couldn’t. They kissed.

Nicole overheard Vivian and Gus discussing Stefano and Rafe. Vivian tossed a piece of paper into the trash. Nicole dug through the trash until she found it and was shocked to see it was DNA results. She vowed to find out what EJ had been up to. Nicole went back to the mansion and saw Taylor and EJ kissing from the foyer. Confused, she watched them for a minute before heading back out the door. Nicole went to the pier to process what she’d seen. Nicole heard her mother’s voice telling her she had more power than she knew and to use it. Later, Nicole met a man at the pier and instructed him to match the DNA results on the paper she had with Rafe Hernandez and to call her as soon as he had anything.

EJ took Taylor for a picnic on DiMera property as Nicole confessed to Chloe what she’d seen. Chloe asked Nicole what she was going to do. Nicole said she’d get revenge. Chloe asked Nicole to have some sympathy for her sister because Taylor and Brandon were the only family Nicole had left. Nicole refused. She went back to the mansion and casually asked Taylor and EJ what they’d been up to.
