On Oct. 16, 2013, Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myres, Fla. presented the production of "CATS" to a full and extremely receptive audience that honored the cast at the end of the show with a standing ovation!
The evening began, for those attending both the dinner and the show, at 5:30 p.m. The live performance ran from 7:30 - 9:45, with a 15 intermission.
"The "CATS" music is by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and the production is based on 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' by T. S. Eliot. The Broadway Palm show was directed and choreographed by Amy Marie McCleary." - Broadway Palm
According to Wikipedia, many of Lloyd Webber's musicals have run for more than a decade both in the West End and on Broadway. He has composed 13 musicals, a song cycle, a set of variations, two film scores, and a Latin Requiem Mass.
This talented composer has also gained a number of honors, including a knighthood in 1992. A few of the many awards he has earned are seven Tony Awards, three Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, fourteen Ivor Novello Awards, seven Olivier Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2006.
Several of Lloyd Webber's songs have been widely recorded including "Memory" from "CATS."
"The first performance of "CATS" was held at The New London Theatre in London, England on May 11, 1981. It was presented there by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Co. Limited.
