Catonsville veterinary clinic treats dog maimed by Baltimore man

The Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Catonsville, MD is treating a pit bull that was attacked May 11, 2010.

Jill Rosen of The Baltimore Sun reports that a North Baltimore man with a machete mutilated the pit bull/shepherd, Okashia. A few houses from his own residence, Levar J. Bailey entered his neighbor’s gated yard where the attack took place. The dog’s owner, Shea-Quan Moore-Williams was home at the time. Bailey was arrested and taken to an area hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

The otherwise healthy 2-year-old dog is now in questionable condition. In addition to extensive blood loss, Okashia suffered massive injuries to nasal passages, cheek and lungs.

Okashia’s bills are being paid through the BARCS Frankie Fund. Unfortunately, there may not be enough funds at this time to cover extensive surgery if needed.

Donations to BARCS can be made via PayPal online. Checks and money orders should be made out to "Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc." and sent to the following address:
