Catholic priests condemn gay marriage in England

You would think we were back in the 15th century. However, on Friday evening, over 1,000 Catholic priests came out to condemn gay marriage. They said that legalizing it would lead to persecution of religious freedom.

In one of the largest letters of its type ever written, the priests raise fears that their freedom to practice and speak about their faith will be “severely” limited and dismiss Government reassurances as "meaningless." To make matters worse, they even compare the move to redefine marriage to that of Henry VIII, whose efforts to get a divorce from Katherine of Aragon triggered centuries of bloody war between church and state.

Several websites have laughed at the condemnation from the Catholic priests at a time when many of them are being persecuted for child molestation. Many observers believe that gay marriage is destined to become legal within the next two years.
