After two days and three votes there is still no Pope for Rome. Today looks to be a long day as this very special decision must be made. It has been said that no conclave of popes has gone longer than five days but that is still to be seen.
Life moves on quickly and those, put in place, to make this remarkable decision, know that time is of the essence. They also know that choice is crucial.
The first Pope was Simon Peter also known as St Peter. It is said he received the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven from Jesus. Such importance of this position should never be taken lightly.
The 115 elect cardinals will elect the next person to lead the Church. The position of Pope is important in that the position requires great humility and obedience to God. The position will also require someone who can step up in the face of scandals and problems with in the church such as confidentiality and moral issues.
The next Pope must be strong of honor and patience as well as understanding and professionalism. It is a “Spiritual” position as well as a government position.
Black smoke indicates that the new Pope has not been selected. Never has the vote gone past seven ballots being entered but again there is a first time for everything. The decision must not be taken into lightly and the presiding cardinals understand that.
This person must be able to guide and spiritually lead millions in hundreds of countries. Even though not every soul on the planet is a Catholic, there are many who respect and recognize it's beliefs and doctrines.
The Holy See has been vacant sine Pope Benedict XVI resigned and now it is presented before the College of Cardinals, who entered in to what is called the papal conclave, the responsibility to choose our next Pope. The cardinals will remain, gathered in the Sistine Chapel until we see the white smoke which will indicate that the new Pope has been chosen.
