Catherine Zeta-Jones joins 'Rock Of Ages'

Catherine Zeta-Jones fans received news on Wednesday that the actress would be joining the cast of Rock of Ages, which will air in Scottsdale theaters once it is released. Adam Shankman reported on the casting on his Twitter. He tweeted the following:

Yea, it's true! My darling Catherine zeta jones is joining the #rockofagesmovie cast as my new villain! I'm super busy, so read about it online!

Zeta-Jones joins a cast that includes Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin. Rock of Ages is a film adaptation of the popular Broadway play, but Catherine's character was created specifically for the movie. The character was not seen at all in the stage production.

Rock of Ages is a love story and musical that uses some of the biggest releases in 80s rock music to tell its story.

Fans on Twitter started buzzing soon after the announcement was made on Wednesday, but the buzz was not positive. Two fans said the following upon hearing about Catherine Zeta-Jones joining the cast of the musical:
