Fitness can be defined in many ways. In this installment we'll talk to "Razor" Rob about some of the less physical sides to his personal fitness.
CC: Rob, congrats on your two-year wedding anniversary man! I thought it was great that your Twitter profile begins with “DAD, Husband, Brother, Uncle.” Tell us, how’s the family life going? How are the kids?
Razor: Well thank you, my life is crazy but now instead of out all night crazy it’s like changing diapers and watching cartoons all day...different crazy. I’ve done a lot of cool stuff in my life but having my own family is the best!
CC: It’s been about a month since your submission loss to Shinya Aoki at Dream 17. You were never able to get a rhythm going in that fight. Was it the length of Aoki, the takedown threat? Did Shinya show you anything you didn’t expect? How do you think you’d adjust if you fought him again?
Razor: Yeah, his length is underrated he’s a tall lanky 155lb guy and his movement on the ground is world class. It was unfortunate he wanted nothing to do with the stand up part but hey had I gotten a position to finish I would have as well. I would love to fight him again and in a cage and for that matter anyone I’ve lost to in the past and haven't re-matched.
CC: Razor Clothing seems to grow in popularity by the day. Can you tell us how it began, what influenced the style and what are the company’s current goals?
Razor: Yes, I’m glad to say my clothing line has survived the economy. It started by selling my fight t-shirts to my friends at the gym. Then one day a student of mine - Steve Moon - said you need to start selling online to people. I was skeptical but we did it. That was 2006 and we’ve been running strong ever since! I really think our style is "staying sharp." If it’s in the gym or in the street you want to have a look that caters to any situation. We are about to add a huge new portion to our line as well at www.RAZORCLOTHINGFIGHTGEAR.COM. Our next goal…TAKE OVER THE WORLD!
CC: Lastly, what’s next in the MMA and business career of Razor Rob?
Razor: Well, currently I’m still under contract with Bellator fighting which is on MTV. Also, I now work for LA Boxing Franchise Corp. as the Director of Instructor Training. I travel, source and manage the instructors of all the nationwide gym locations. As well as hosting seminars on MMA striking and coaching fighters most recently on season 11 & 14 of the Ultimate Fighter. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR…IT MIGHT COME TRUE!
