The former soap star has truly made a name for herself on the daytime talk show circuit as well.
Ripa spent years alongside talk show icon Regis Philbin on ABC’s ‘Live with Regis and Kelly.’ And when Philbin announced his retirement, many fans wondered who Ripa would be paired with. Some even wondered if Ripa’s new co-host would make for a successful ‘Live.’
In September of 2012, former NFL defensive end Michael Strahan became Ripa’s permanent co-host.
It’s safe to say the pairing (and the morning talk show) is a big hit. Everyone loves them - even Oprah made an appearance on the show.
TV Guide journalist Michael Logan spoke with the ‘Live with Kelly and Michael’ hosts to get their perspective on the show’s success. In reading the interview, it’s quite obvious Ripa and Strahan have great respect for each other.
‘It's so easy to do this job with Kelly, because what you see is what you get. Each morning I come in so excited to see her. I love it when she says something that makes me spit coffee out my nose. She makes me feel so comfortable that I'm willing to go on TV and do crazy things like rip my pants off,’ Strahan said of his time with Ripa.
‘Every time Michael came in to host for a day or two, it felt so warm and nice that the staff and I would say, "Daddy's home." It's true! It just seemed so right…,’ Ripa said of her co-host.
