'Catching Fire' movie: Liam Hemsworth talks Jennifer Lawrence, whipping clip

Liam Hemsworth is helping spur fan excitement this week for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” movie, as HungerGamesDWTC.net revealed this Sunday, March 17, that the Gale Hawthorne actor recently opened up on a few new details for the hotly anticipated sequel film, including the infamous whipping scene and working with actress Jennifer Lawrence.

During his time in the Philippines to promote Bench, a new clothing line the “Catching Fire” actor models for, Liam Hemsworth also opened up in a new interview surrounding some questions for “The Hunger Games” sequel.

One of the first things Hemsworth dished on was that working with Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t just look cool — she’s as “amazing” and “energetic” in person as she appears on camera and in real life. He noted about his “Catching Fire” movie co-star:

“She’s one of the most energetic, fun-loving people I’ve ever met. Working with her on set is just easy because she’s so good and she’s just won all these huge awards so congratulations to her for that. She’s amazing.”

Liam Hemsworth also confirmed that there will be a whipping scene in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, and it’s described as “horrific.” Although the whipping was certainly controversial in the planning, those whipping scenes have at least been shot and may likely make it into the actual movie.

“My character [Gale Hawthorne] gets whipped in this one. So I spent a couple of days on my knees getting whipped, which was pretty horrific.”

Finally, Hemsworth added that for fans equally excited about the next installment to the franchise, they have reason to be excited, as “Catching Fire” is looking to be even better than the original “The Hunger Games.”

“There’s a whole lot of great stuff in ’Catching Fire.’ The characters are developing more; (director) Francis Lawrence had a whole new take on it.”
