Colorado bluegrass act Yonder Mountain String Band (see slideshow) will play the Nitefall on the River summer concert series on Saturday. The concert, scheduled for the Simon Estes Amphitheater right on the river, will be moved to the Brenton Skating Plaza one block north due to rising waters around the Simon Estes stage. The Brenton Skating Plaza recently installed a giant canopy to accommodate summer events like concerts, festivals, and private parties. YMSB recently parted ways with longtime mandolin player and vocalist Jeff Austin. The foursome turned trio has topped the U.S. Bluegrass chart with three different albums and hosts their own music festival in October on Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Arkansas. Tickets to see Yonder Mountain String Band at Brenton Skating Plaza in Des Moines are still available for $22.50. Ticket prices will go up to $25 the day of the concert. This concert is open to all ages.

On Saturday, Wooly's in Des Moines will host country artist David Nail, and opener Justin Adams, at 8 p.m. Nail has collected one platinum and two gold singles, one of which (featured video "Let It Rain") topped the Billboard Country chart. All three of Nail's albums have cracked the Country Top 20, and two have peaked in the Top 10. The Missouri native's latest album, I'm a Fire, was released in March. Tickets for the all ages concert are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

The Barrelhouse Rockets will perform at the Gas Lamp in Des Moines at 9 p.m. on Saturday. The Winterset rockabilly/honky tonk quartet took a hit late last year when guitarist Keith Petrosky passed away, but the band has rebounded and is back performing again. The 21+ show at the Gas Lamp will have a $5 cover charge.

The Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater in Saint Charles is hosting a "Flashback to the 80's" event on June 28 at 1 p.m. The concert will feature performances by five rock tribute bands: Cry Tough (Poison), Night Train (Guns N' Roses), Looks That Kill (Motley Crue), Shoot to Thrill (AC/DC), and Battery (Metallica). Tickets for the outside show are $30. Ticketholders are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to sit on and to dress in 80's attire. This is an all ages event.
