On last night's premiere episode of “Catch a Contractor,” multi-talented comedian Adam Carolla and his team of private investigator Alison Bedell and her husband Skip, a licensed home-improvement contractor, this team is going after the worst contractors in America. Before Adam became famous for his comedy and other endeavors, he was a contractor, so it is not so much of a stretch for him. Now, the three are on the job to hunt down the crooked people who screw over innocent people, and force them to complete the jobs they left unfinished. If they cannot find these people, they will finish the job and help the family take legal action against these jerks.

They visited the Kirk family, who have been living in an unfinished home, because a contractor took their money and disappeared. The home has been a nightmare for seven months, and the family has been sleeping residing in the living room. The contractor’s bid of $20,000 was to redo the home exterior and add a master bathroom. They made the mistake of giving the contractor the entire amount, which Adam states was their first mistake. He tells viewers never to give a contractor more than half of the money up from.

Looking at the unfinished mess, Adam sees that the contractor only used pressure-treated wood in one place, instead of all points where masonry would come in contact with it. He also pointed out that the electrical switches were getting water damage and could cause a fire.

Skip told the Kirks that they were going to find Jose and bring him back and make him finish the job properly. So they put Alison on the job, because nobody can find someone who does not want to be found like she does. Then they will perform a sting, to lure him in. When Alison found him, she told him she wanted work done, so he gave her his name and phone number; this time his name was Ciro.

So they set up the sting house where Alison is supposed to live. Hidden cameras allowed the Kirks to watch what was going on. However, the guy was not Jose, as another man showed up named Ciro. When Adam and Skip explained to Ciro what was happening, he was mad, because he was an honest contractor and did not know Jose was using his good name to do his dirty deeds. When confronted, Jose said he did not get money from the people, and hemmed and hawed until the Kirks showed up and confronted him. He had a choice; make it right or they would press charges against him. He agreed to work with Adam and Skip to do the job properly and emerge as a good guy. He chose the latter, as the finished product now gave the Kirks a beautiful home both inside and outside.

Jose continues to work for Ciro, but is not longer accepting jobs he cannot handle.
