Catalina Byrd needs your help to get on the ballot

Catalina Byrd is trying to run for mayor of Baltimore. In order to get on the general election ballot as an independent she needs so fill a petition with about 5000 signatures. I ran into Catalina at Artscape on Sunday. You can see a photo of us taken in front of the Station North Arts Cafe on the 1800 block of Charles Street here. Catalina and a campaign volunteer had been sitting in front of the cafe collecting signatures for a little while.  I signed the petition and I think you should sign too. Even if you are a hardcore Democrat who supports Stephanie Rawlings-Blake (I was told that she signed the petition!) you should sign. Competition is a sign of a healthy democracy. We should all support debate and the sharing of different points of view.  We should not be a one party town.

If you watch Square Off on ABC 2, then you probably have seen Catalina Byrd on the show as a panelist. She definitely has a passion for politics and will add to the local political debate this fall.
