A wheelchair-bound cat in Florida was out for a walk with his owner when a police officer handed over a ticket for $230 because the cat wasn't on a leash. The cat does not have the use of his back legs so his human mom bought him a wheelchair on eBay. She takes him out for walks to get exercise and fresh air -- and she was pretty shocked when an officer approached her.
According to the county animal services, there are no exceptions to the leash law. It's about "having control of your animal" when you're not on your own property. Wheelchair or not, every animal has to be on a leash in public.
The cat's owner thinks that authorities should spend their time doing more important things like staying on top of crime in the area. While her disabled cat isn't going to run off and hurt someone -- but a law... is a law.
