Cat Care Society has tips for feline fanciers during Pet Dental Health Month

PET DENTAL HEALTH MONTH - The American Veterinary Medical Association and several veterinary groups have declared February as National Pet Dental Health Month. As part of the observance, the Cat Care Society's monthly seminar series takes on a dental theme Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. with "Feline Dental Health: Separating Fact from Fiction."

The presenter, Dr. Kerry Muhovich, will discuss causes and prevention of dental disease in cats and demystify what takes place when a cat gets a dental cleaning in the veterinary setting. Muhovich is a veterinarian who has taught veterinary technician classes for several years at Community College of Denver.

The seminar will be in the conference room in lower level of the Cat Care Society shelter, 5787 W. 6th Avenue - Lakewood. It will be free for platinum Cat Care Society members and $5 for others.

CHILI COOKOFF - MaxFund, the Celtic Tavern and Delaney's Bar will hold the 19th Annual Chili Cookoff Fundraiser for MaxFund on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. The event will include a silent auction and meeting animals from MaxFund.

Celtic Tavern/Delaney's Bar is at 1801 Blake Street in historic LoDo Denver. The cost for chili tasters is $15 at the door or $10 by using the pre-registration link on the MaxFund website. Chili entries will be $30 per cook. Details are on the website.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN LAB RESUE-The Broomfield-based organization has two scheduled fundraising events coming up.

Feb. 20 - 6 to 9 p.m. at Finley's Pub, 375 South Pearl Street Denver. Tickets will be sold for $20 which will include two drinks and appetizers. Dog-friendly donations such as toys, food, beds, etc. will also be accepted.

Feb. 24 - A pool party will be held 5 to7 p.m. at the Canine Rehabilitation and Conditioning Group, 8855 W. 116th Circle, Broomfield. Foster dogs will be available.
