'Castle' searches for his baby girl (Photos)

Castle: “You know I still remember when Alexis was born they handed me this tiny person, all bundled up. She just stared up at me, and when I looked down at here, this feeling hit me like I had been struck by lightning. It was love that instant, instant inexplicable love you can only feel for your child. In that moment I knew, I knew my life had changed forever, and now it’s about to change again.”

“Target” is the newest episode of Castle. Beware this article contains spoilers. To review the last case file, click here. Be sure to check out the slideshow for more quotes from the episode. Castle airs Monday nights at 9 on ABC (KTRK).

The FBI sends over Agent Harris to liaise with the NYPD during the kidnapping case. Agent Harris doesn’t really do much other than offer some standard insights into a kidnapping case. Maybe he will take on more of a role in the next episode, but it really isn’t necessary. What is a little strange is the scene between him, Beckett, and Castle after it is discovered that Alexis was also kidnapped. Both Beckett and Castle are treated like outsiders while Agent Harris breaks down the investigation. The writers maybe could have found another way to have that scene play out. It would have made slightly more sense if it was Castle and Martha on one side and Beckett and Agent Harris on the other. The addition of Martha is what really what would have made more sense or maybe if the conversation just took place in a different room in the precinct. Personally, that scene is just strange. Did it bother you? What did you think of how the case is handled?

The writers do a good job of showing Castle throughout this whole ordeal. He is devastated, barely holding on, and is doing whatever it takes to find Alexis. What would be great is if the writers show a little bit more of how everyone else is handling things. There are little moments like when Ryan says he is a wreck, but they are just moments. It would be great to see a little bit more, or maybe just have a scene with Castle talking to Ryan or Esposito or someone else about this. The scenes where he talks to Martha are great, as is his scenes with Beckett. The best moment, personally, in this episode is when he goes and talks a little bit to Sara’s parents. Did Castle make you cry?

Around halfway through the episode, the writers let viewers see Alexis and Sara’s point of view. It’s great that they held off on showing them. This allowed the writers a chance to get the police aspect of things rolling before going to focus on Alexi and Sara. Alexis proves how much she is Castle’s daughter in those scenes. The writers did a good job of not making her appear too helpless. It would have been easy to just have Alexis and Sara sit there and not do much aside from provide viewers a visual to go along with the police case. Alexis keeps Sara calm and does some detective work herself. What’s also nice is that Sara isn’t completely useless or hysterical. She tells Alexis what she learned when her dad made her listen to a kidnapping lecture. Did Alexis make you proud?
