At first glance of the body, witchcraft is the thing that comes to mind. Strangely enough, the victim is involved in a historical scavenger hunt, which involves monks. This is an all-around fun case. Castle sword fighting is great. He would know how to do that. Sadly, there isn’t a lot of Ryan and Esposito in this episode, although it is great to see a scene between Lanie and Esposito. What’s a little annoying is that the reason behind the way the victim is killed is never fully explained. The killer staged her body, most likely to throw off the cops, but it is never really discussed. Did you enjoy the case?
The best thing about Pi being on the show is that he allows for the writers to really develop Alexis and Castle’s relationship. Most of the time if Alexis is in an episode, she just has a storyline that bookends an episode. Whatever is happening in that episode doesn’t continue over into another episode. Her storyline lives and dies in that episode. With Pi, however, she is getting an actual arc. Her relationship with her father is being tested. It’s great to see. This is the only upside to Pi existing. How do you think Castle will earn Alexis’ forgiveness?
