Castle: “I just came up with a new title: Murder is the new Black.”
Beckett: “Does that even make sense?”
“Castle” does The Devil Wears Prada! Seriously, Matilda King is essentially Miranda Priestly. What is surprising is that Matilda knew Beckett back when Beckett was a model. Let this sink in a moment. It would have been great if the writers played more with the reveal of Beckett being a model. This reveal happens in front of Castle and is later mentioned to Ryan and Esposito, but the writers don’t do anything with it, really. There aren’t any humorous storylines. The biggest thing that happens is Beckett tries on a wedding dress. The case itself is good, and the writers really delve into the world of fashion. Did you enjoy the case?
Here are quick thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. It’s time to start planning the wedding! Martha takes it upon herself to introduce Beckett to the world of wedding magazines. Anytime the two of them have a scene together it is great. It would be fantastic to see them have a more serious and emotional scene, one where they connect a bit more. Martha is always brought in to add humor to the show. Would you like to see more Martha and Beckett scenes?
There is a great character moment for Beckett in this episode. While trying on the wedding dress, Beckett starts to miss her mother and wish that she was alive to see this. The great character moment is when she tells Castle about this. Beckett is open and honest with him. Sure, it’s a small thing, but it is a big moment for Beckett. Technically she didn’t have to tell him why she said no to the venue, but Beckett felt like she had to, and so she did. Personally, it is my favorite Caskett moment of the episode. What was yours?
